Nuvi 265WT with SD Card

My Nuvi 265WT doesn't seem to be reading from the SD Card. I bought downloaded the North American maps. The device didn't have enought space so I put an SD Card in which was recognised by the downloader and chose that to copy the maps to. Once the maps were downloaded I disconnected the Nuvi from the computer but it wasn't seeing the new maps, only the ones stored on the device. I copied a picture to the SD Card to see if the Nuvi would show it in the Pictures but it doesn't.

Any advice?

Sorry, didn't realise this was a Sports section. I've posted this in the Mac section, although I would have thought there would be a General Support section or something as my query doesn't specifically relate to Mac or PC.

I have a friend with a 255W that also doesn't seem to be able to read from the SD card. I wonder if these nüvi 2x5W series all have this problem.

And, I wish they would add hardware specific forums as well.

Managed to fix it. It was caused by some third party POIs I had installed a few month ago for a trip to France. They were located in a folder called 'POI'. I removed the folder and the Nuvi read the SD card with the new maps on it fine. If I put the folder back the Nuvi doesn't read the card. If I put the POI folder on the card instead of the unit it reads the card fine.

I hope this helps anyone with the same problem because Garmin 'support' didn't even acknowledge my email.

Thanks for the follow-up. You may have solved the problem for my friend as well. If I remember correctly, shortly after he bought the GPSr he asked me about where he could download some particular POIs he was interested in. I'll check and see if he did and if he has the same POI folder. If so, I'll get him to move it to the SD card instead and see if it solves the problem for him as well.

Well, it seems that this was not the fix for my friend's 255W.
