Just bought a 255W after my 260W was stolen.
The Bitish TTS voices, especially the female voice, seems to have problems pronouncing street names with the "r" sound in them.
For example "Park" sounds like "par" with the "k" missing. "Church" sound like "chur", "Market" sounds like "maraket". It's as if it takes to long to complete the "r" sound so that whatever comes after it gets missed. On a number of occasions some street names were totally unrecognizable (try "Church Farm Road").
Have downloaded the latest software and updated the TTS voices and still have the same affect.
OTOH, the American TTS voices pronounce everything virtually perfectly.
Note that I had a Nuvi 260W previously and that didn't show this phenomena, it just mispronounced some words but the "r" sounds were perfect.
I presumed that something was wrong with my system but the response I got from Garmin support was "....I have reported it to our software engineers for review in hopes that it can be fixed in an upcoming update through WebUpdater."
Anyone else have this problem?
