Remove a split?

I have a Garmin Forerunner 305. I'm wondering if it is possible to remove a split from a run I recorded. Here's what happened:

I ran a marathon last weekend, and wore my 305 throughout. I hit the stop a little late, but close enough. I didn't reset the watch, and later when I got home, accidentally turned on the timer again, and it added another 30: minutes to the run. It recorded this second "run" as a separate split. I'm wondering if there is a way to remove that part from this activity.

I Think I have made it public for all to view. Any advice I can get on this would be really appreciated.

Also, for some reason, it appeared to have recorded all the mileage, however on the map that it shows only the last 12 miles or so. Any reason for this?

    I am guessing the first twelve miles are blacked out due to being in a military grounds. Interesting, I never knew that, but it seems obvious, as that is where your mile 12 starts.

    As for removing the split, I've always wondered if you could edit the xml files located on your hard drive, but have never been motivated enough to experiment.

    If I open one, I see this stuff...

    <Activities>
    <Activity Sport="Biking">
    <Id>2010-06-22T10:14:55Z</Id>
    <Lap StartTime="2010-06-22T10:14:55Z">
    <TotalTimeSeconds>1121.5000000</TotalTimeSeconds>
    <DistanceMeters>8046.7397461</DistanceMeters>
    <MaximumSpeed>11.9160004</MaximumSpeed>
    <Calories>161</Calories>
    .... lots of data ...

    </Extensions>
    </Lap>
    <Lap StartTime="2010-06-22T10:34:17Z">
    <TotalTimeSeconds>1063.3600000</TotalTimeSeconds>
    <DistanceMeters>8046.7397461</DistanceMeters>
    <MaximumSpeed>10.5870008</MaximumSpeed>
    <Calories>117</Calories>
    <AverageHeartRateBpm xsi:type="HeartRateInBeatsPerMinute_t">
    <Value>131</Value>
    </AverageHeartRateBpm>
    <MaximumHeartRateBpm xsi:type="HeartRateInBeatsPerMinute_t">
    <Value>145</Value>
    </MaximumHeartRateBpm>
    <Intensity>Active</Intensity>
    <Cadence>81</Cadence>
    <TriggerMethod>Distance</TriggerMethod>

    <Track>
    .... lots more data.

    I bet you could delete those lines in blue, save the file under a new name. You might have to edit the values for distance and such. Then use the Upload workout link on Garmin Connect. Hopefully it will find the new workout.

    My XML files are located in this folder (Vista):

    C:\Users\carol\AppData\Roaming\GARMIN\Devices\3638470404\History

    Good luck, and congrats on your marathon!

  • Such a common request

    Looking around the forums, the ability to delete or edit the splits/laps in a workout is such a common request. I can't understand why they don't work this into the Garmin Connect functionality. Especially when they included this functionality in the Garmin Training Center software.
