Connect history to a route to include water stops.

Hi,

I did a charity bike ride last year of 100 miles which included 5 water stops. I planned the route using Bike route Toster and uploaded it to my Garmin Edge 605. The route had the water stops marked so as I cycled I could see how far to each stop etc. I recorded the ride and uploaded it to Garmin Connect but deleted it from my Edge.

I am doing the ride again this year and would like to know how well I am doing as opposed to last year using the Virtual Partner feature. I know that I can create a course from the history but can't see how I can make it include the water stops.

If I just re do the course with my final average as the main figure it will give me an idea how I am doing but the section in the middle is very hilly so my comparison would be inaccurate. As I understand it using create route from history logs you progress each step of the way and then plots where your virtual partner would be based on this information. That way being accurate on the hilly middle section.

Any ideas welcome.

    Hi,

I've done some experimenting but not quite there yet.

I opened the route at Garmin Connect and have sent it to my Edge with the Send to Device option. Then using Training centre I have replaced the water stops. All looks brilliant on the mac but when I select the course on the edge it takes a long time to load. Once loaded it only shows about 61 mile of the 100 mile route. The file is coming out at 9.9 mb.

It's as if the file is too big and has limited itself to just under 10 mb!

I had the original ride set to every second recording!

I have done a similar thing with a 25 mile ride and it looks OK. But I made the route from the history on the Edge. I will experiment with loading from the connect site.

Can anyone help? Is there a size limit?
