Hi.
I have recently bought a Nuvi 1310t, and have used it everyday for 3 weeks, and after today's routing, I'm going back to using a TomTom. This is the second Garmin Nuvi I have used, the first was a 1490t but the first wasn't used as much as this and was given away after only 3 days due to the speed of it turning on and off, and being a mulitidrop driver having to wait 30 to 45 seconds or so for it to boot up, was unbearable, so I went back to my TomTomT 720 quite quickly.
3 weeks ago my 720 broke and so I had to go buy another and because I need one for work I only had a few hour to get one, and went to Halfords, where the Nuvi unit was quite quick turning on and off, but what I'd set out to get, which was a TT, they didn't have in stock, so I took the Nuvi.
Well after two or 3 stops, the slow speed was again an instant annoyance, which in a transit van I can get around by using the second power/cig lighter socket as it's always powered, but in any other vehicle it goes to power off, which I again have to wait for to tell it to stay on.
But the final straw, which I have to say I have noticed more these last few days is that it wants to take me on a 5 to 10 minute, 15 MINUTES today!!, round trip to get to a point, which would only take two if it told me to do a u-turn, but even then, sometimes it can take me two or three minutes up a road before telling me I needed to do a u-turn in the first place.
The map also lacks detail imo, in that you cant see certain streets unless you travel up them, you can see the street on the map, just not the name, which is a massive help to someone like me in new areas pretty much everyday.
So that's that for me and Garmin unfortunately, as I was looking forward to a change from a good few years of using a TT, but I'm looking forward to going and buying another tomorrow.
