Cigarette lighter socket too small for charger

Hi all,
My girlfriend drives a 2003 Buick Century, and her Nuvi 255w charger does not fit in the lighter socket. Does anyone know of another size charger, or an adapter with a wider socket extension? Thanks for your help.
