Guys,
I am posting this on behalf of my father.
I am searching for any of his riding friends in bristol also.
yesterday he was knocked off his bike by a german coach driver and sustained serious injuries and no memory.
The police and so called witneses have claimed he was cyling the wrong way on a major road. Knowing my father this is an impossiblity.
The GPS Garmin package has allowed me to print his route out and send it to the investigating officer of north wales.
Had he not had his garmin the chances are there would have been no chance of stopping a claim against him or worse prosecution.
As it stands we have to wait and see if the police will use this information but it shows that if GARMIN had a shock recording element it might save someone else by recording exact times of impact etc.
As it stands the sharp change in direction has been adequate to make it clear, but also a Directional arrow should be periodic so the police can interpret data more easily in these cases.
The only thing that prompted me to look further into this was the injuries are consistent to my own motorcycle accidents. otherwise it might have been left to the police to do nothing.
IF nothing comes of this i would like to say thanks to garmin for a great product !
Chris
