Edge 705: File won't upload. Is it corrupt? Help!

I'm hoping someone can help me out with this:

I did a 100 mile bike ride the other day that I would really like to upload to Garmin Connect. However, when I go to upload the file, the interface tells me "No activities found." I do, however, see that the ride is still on my device along with a couple of other old ones.

When I click "Manual Upload" I am able to see that yesterday's ride exists in my history folder. When I try to upload the file, Garmin Connect tells me: "An error occurred with your upload. Please try again."

I've attached the TCX file to this post. Can anyone help me figure out what's going on here?

Much obliged,
--Aaron

The file only contains a small portion of your ride. See the following thread for suggestions on fixing this problem:

Thanks. I saw that previous reply. That solution didn't fix the problem. I'm wondering if anyone has any other ideas.

The top level data on my device itself shows 98 miles and other info that indicates more is there.

I'm wondering if anyone else has any ideas for me here or, at the very least, can help me figure out why this happened so that it doesn't happen again.

One other weird thing: There are three rides from April '09 that are also in my device. It seems to be impossible to delete them. These files do not appear in my history folder when I have the 705 connected to my computer, so I can't seem to delete them that way either.

    Any ideas on that one?

You can delete the rides directly on the 705.
Menu->Where To->Saved Rides then select the ride from the list and then select the Delete option.

You can try the method discussed in the following thread to recover the ride:
    https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?t=2285

You should always hit the stop button and then hold down the Lap button for the 3-2-1 countdown at the end of your rides. This will make sure the tcx file gets written out.

    Yeah, that's not working.

No rides appear in "Saved Rides."

But when I go to Menu->Where To->History, there are a few rides in my History folder that simply refuse to be deleted. These rides do not show up in the History folder when the device is connected to my computer, however.

Any idea what is up with that?

Yes. I always do the 321 countdown when a ride is done.

Hey, so I created a course like you instructed. I tried to manually upload the course to Garmin Connect. No dice.

Are you able to download it and see what's the matter with it like you did for the guy in the other thread?...

Oh, weird. It's telling me that my course file exceeds the file size quota allowed here. Sigh.

The good news -- I think -- is that the device takes a long time to "read" my course when I click through to edit it. So, I'm assuming that means there is actually some data there.

Could I just email it to you Jon?

You can't upload a course to GC. You need to convert the course file back into a History file (using TCX Converter) and then you should be able to upload the file.
