Need Advice on Buying a Garmin [1490T?]

I recently had my Garmin stolen with my car.
Now I need a new Garmin.

I was thinking of buying the 1490T

But I have noticed ALOT of complaints about it rebooting randomly or dieing after firmware update.

Should I be worried about this? Is there any other Garmin with same spec like the 1390T that will not do this?

Nuvi 1490 concerns

I too have concerns with the 1490. I have had two prior Garmins, a Streetpilot 2610 and a 660 in the past several years. Both worked perfectly.
I have read so many complaints about the 1490t that I almost steered away however I still have more faith in Garmin than other manufacturers.

Nevertheless I decided to take the leap and I have one on order from Staples and I'm to pick it up today. I am nervous about even plugging it in to register and update the maps out of concern that it will some how mess it up. I even read of one customer on the web who was on his tenth 1490t after having problems with every prior unit.

One would think that for as long as this unit has been out, any bugs would have been worked out. So I want to see what serial number I get and find out whether it is of recent manufacture in hopes that as a newer unit it will work as well as all my prior Garmins have. This is my choice over other gps due to the 5" inch screen and onscreen options. We will see how it goes.

Costco

Buy it at Costco I'm on my 3rd one. It locks up on me within the first week. Not sure what the problem is and neither does garmin. I read the same problem that others had and I'm thinking it has to do with the updates. This 3rd one I'm on i haven't update-ed yet (on my 4th week with this one)and no problems. I'm about to up date it tonight so well see.You can take it back to Costco no questions asked for 90days, and it was $229. -$249.00. Unlike Best Buy and others who want to charge a restocking fee if you decide to return it.
