As I wrote, if the image of the HRM is missing in the activity review, then it almost certainly means the strap was not connected (or the HR data download failed for some reason). If you export the activity…
The FIT files of the swim activities are indeed odd. They do not list the HRM connected at all, claim that HR comes from the internal wrist sensor all the time, yet the final HR curve (that's the one you…
Did you try doing the dry test (just a few seconds is sufficient), as I suggested? Same outcome, or not?
Do you mean the one shown below the watch photo (as on the attached screenshot)? I do have it there for OW Swims too. If you do not see it, then it means the HRM was not connected. Make sure you start the activity while both the strap and the watch are still above the water surface, in order that they can establish the connection. Once submerged, it cannot happen, and the HR data is then not downloaded from the HRM to the watch, upon stopping and saving the activity.

I Always use HR. It's connected and at the end the data Is downloaded to 255. But then the file is uploaded without the HR pro icon. Last year I had several swim with the HR pro icon but then no more.... Today last swim was ok all the others this week no icon...

As I wrote, if the image of the HRM is missing in the activity review, then it almost certainly means the strap was not connected (or the HR data download failed for some reason). If you export the activity and post the zipped FIT file here, we can tell you with certainty, whether it was really the case or not.
Thanks I'll try to upload
Dear Trux I have download some fit files from my watch only one of them has the icon on the garmin connect all of them are with hr-pro with fine download at the end of open swim activity. I don't know if it possible to upload here

Yes, if you zip the files, you can drop the zip archive into the message body. Unzipped it won't be accepted.
hr-pro.zip super .... I didn't know .... I was checking some files ... with fitfiletool.com and there are errors in them it's strange becouse the 255 show hr-pro connected before I go in the water and when I went out searching for hr, dowload hr, saving hr with no errors but the fit file has some stange dates probably from hr-pro. I will change the battery and try again
when I went out searching for hr, dowload hr, saving hr
Are you selecting the option Download HR in the activity menu, manually? You should not be doing that, unless the automated download fails for some reason. Manually downloading HR data to an activity that already save the HR data, can indeed corrupt the activity file.
No is automatic when I end the activity and save outside the sea
The FIT files of the swim activities are indeed odd. They do not list the HRM connected at all, claim that HR comes from the internal wrist sensor all the time, yet the final HR curve (that's the one you see in Garmin Connect; on the screenshot below it is in red) differs significantly from the HR recorded by the internal sensor (blue). So it is clear the red data comes from the external HRM.

Do a dry test now - put the HRM on (wet the electrodes first), select OW Swim, wait till the HRM is connected (the heart icon stops flashing, and notification appears briefly), and only then start the activity. Let it run for a few seconds, then stop, save, and review in Connect whether the HRM thumbnail is shown.
If it works, start the true OW Swim activities in the same way - stay above the water with the chest, and with the watch, confirm that the HRM is connected (heart icon stops flashing), start the activity, and only then submerge.
