UTM co-ordinates not displayed

I'm interested in other users opinions.

It seems in general that Garmin prefer to use Deg. Min. Sec and don't seem to offer the ability to use UTM.(or other systems) on the newer units.

I am astounded to find that most new Automotive GPS units don't offer UTM (only a choice in the method to display dd.dddd, dd mm ss.s etc)

Most paper street maps are referenced in UTM and emergency services use this co-ordination system. In these modern times governments are asking that UTM is used to identify important features.

It can't be that hard to implement - it used to be in the older units and is in some sports models.

So why is this not offered or supported?
