Follow route like "point to point orienteering"?

Hi,

I have a Garmin Etrex Vista Hcx. I often use my GPS when running and cycling. The problem arises when I want to follow a route, which I have created in Mapsource. I want to follow the route exactly, like point to point in orienteering. I don't want the GPS to optimize for shortest track or shortest distance.

I have tried to look in every setting and every menu but can't get it to work. The GPS starts to do some autorouting...

Question:
Is it possible to create a route in Mapsource and then follow each route point as if the route points where points in orienteering?

I have an idea that I instead create a track and then reverse it and use Tracback? Do you think that is a solution?

Kind regards
/Tobias

I want to create a route in Mapsource and then follow that route with my Garmin. The problem is that when I select the route and click "Navigate" it starts

I think what you want is DIRECT ROUTING - which is a setting in both mapsource and the eTrex. I'm fairly new to my eTrex Vista HCx, but here's how I set it up:

Main -> Setup -> Routing -> Guidance Method: Prompted

Then, when I want to run a route, I can choose whether to go point-to-point (off-road) or calculated (follow road).

    Hope that helps!
