Garmin Connect should allow restoring or manually entering complete Index S2 body composition data
I'd like to suggest a feature that I believe would be very useful for Garmin Index S2 owners.
At the moment, Garmin Connect provides several ways to add body weight or body composition data manually, but none of them allows users to enter the complete set of measurements that the Index S2 records (body fat, skeletal muscle mass, bone mass, body water, etc.).
Unfortunately, I recently experienced what happens when a body composition measurement is accidentally deleted. After contacting Garmin Support, I was informed that deleted measurements are permanently removed, cannot be restored from backups, and cannot be manually recreated by Garmin, even if the original values are known.
This means that one accidental deletion can permanently create a gap in years of historical body composition data.
I think Garmin Connect should provide a way to manually create a complete body composition entry, including:
-
Body weight
-
Body fat
-
Skeletal muscle mass
-
Bone mass
-
Body water
-
Date and time of the measurement
To prevent misuse, this feature could simply be available only to users who have a Garmin Index S2 paired with their Garmin account.
Another possible solution would be to allow editing the date and time of an existing Index S2 measurement. That would at least make it possible to recreate a deleted measurement by taking a new one and assigning it the original timestamp. However, this would only work if the deletion was noticed quickly, before body composition changed significantly.
For that reason, I believe manual entry of the complete body composition data would be a much better and more practical solution.
Has anyone else experienced accidentally deleting an Index S2 measurement? Would you find a feature like this useful?
