Please someone help me get Google Maps routes into my Nuvi285...

Can someone please help me?

I bought a new Nuvi 285 for one reason... I want to be able to plan my motorcycle rides in Google maps, using its drag teh route around feature and then send that to my GPS.

I have tried EVERYTHING! I've used gMapToGPX, GPSBabel, etc. etc. and for the life of me I can't figure out how to do it.

I can create the GPX file. I've saved it to just about every folder on the GPS device when I hook it up to my Win7 PC via USB, but I can't seem to figure out WHERE the route is so I can see it on the GPS.

What am I doing wrong?

Once I create the .gpx, I save it in the GPX folder on the Nuvi, but then what?!

I tried the garmin connect thing on Mapquest, and Mapquest says the Nuvi is not detected, even though Garmin Connect's test page shows it's all hooked up.

Please can someone send me a step by step?

its not google maps, or a nuvi, but here's what I do:

in google EARTH, create the waypoints you want:
save as .kmz on your desktop
    go to http://garmin.gps-data-team.com/poi_manager.php and
convert it to gpx & save on desktop
fire up EasyGPS, Basecamp or Mapsource to read in your new .gpx file
and transfer it to my eTrex.

I'm sharing this for two reasons:
    1. maybe someone can tell ME a simpler way
    2. might help you accomplish your goal (or at least provide some hints).

    Shiny-Side Up!
