Garmin Connect breaks track into random pieces

I am pretty much a newbie. Just did a bike ride that shows up as one track on my eTrek Vista H and in BaseCamp. But Garmin Connect cut it into 4 pieces.

Went back to the Vista H and saved the track with a new name. Didn't help.

Went to BaseCamp. Exported "selection" (just this ride) to a gdb and a gpx. Neither one uploads at all.

What's up?
