Calorie amount not updating when I switch activities

Why does the calorie amount not update when I change activities? The default on my device is biking, but if I use it to kayak, and change the activity, it doesn't update the calorie amount.

Can you share a picture of what you mean by the calories not updating when you change activities?

I guess (s)he expects that the Calories burned during an activity recorded as biking would change when (s)he changes the activity type of the activity in Garmin Connect to Kayak should change. It's a common misconception.
