I'm disappointed with my Garmin Nuvi 265W. When navigating a fixed route, it seems to work well. There is a BIG problem with MANUAL navigating that is WRONG and VERY FRUSTRATING!
This is supposed to be a navigation aid. Yesterday, I took a short trip from my home in Old Bridge, NJ to my Mom's in Colonia, NJ. During the drive, I just set the Nuvi on ' Show Map '.
Going under 1 road I know, the map showed ' CR-541 '. As I approached my Mom's, the map showed ' CR-640 ' followed by ' CR-504 '. When I turned ONTO ' CR-640 ', the top said ' driving on New Dover Road '. When I turned ONTO ' CR-504 ', the top said ' driving on Colonia BLVD. '.
I NEED to know what road I'm approaching BEFORE I'M ON IT in order to find it. What if I am looking for a particular road in a strange area? What good is it to WITHHOLD INFORMATION until it is NOT needed? The unit KNOWS the street name, but does not display it until I have already found it! This is silly, and USELESS!
Is there any chance of fixing this obvious error? I've tried various map zooms and detail settings, but this problem will not go away. This is a serious flaw.
Are there any units out there that work properly?
