Gear Tracking

Hi,

love the idea and implementation of a renewed and thorough gear tracking in Garmin connect.

However, gear tracking as established right now, does not make a lot of sense.

What would be needed is a data field to enable the user to enter the duration/distance the gear has been already in use BEFORE adding it to Garmin Connect. Only by adding such a field it would make sense to enter e.g. all the available running shoes for a tracking in Garmin Connect. I saw such a possibility in other apps when entering gear.

Best,

Tim

  • You can suggest an improvement to Garmin at Share Ideas | Garmin, but if you do not want to wait months or years, you can work around it yourself - simply add a manual activity, assign the concerned gear to it, and enter the distance and time equal to the initial gear mileage. I recommend using some dummy activity type that you normally never use, in order to avoid skewing the stats for the sport of your interest.

  • Thank your for the answer and the suggestion - never though about getting the mileage added to the gear like that. Somehow funny that a field for distance/time of previous use was not in the initial role-out but I may add it to the ideas forum.

  • This is what I did when I moved all my gear from Strava a few years ago.
