firmware 3.30 Oregon 550 doesn't automatically archive tracks?

I have an Oregon 550, updated to firmware 3.30. My unit doesn't automatically archive tracks anymore when the log is full, so that the current track just has only the most recent points. I had the same problem with firmware 3.26 beta. Previous versions worked OK, so I guess it's a bug? Does anyone know the answer to this?
Thanks, Terensky.

    Issues with Dakota and Oregon

New firware release disables some features such as map labels (street names and signs), saving track causes units to crash. There may be additional issues.

Unfortunately, I have purchased and returned a new Dakota 20 and then an Oregon 450T, both of which I had purchased and immediately upgraded out of the box (as anyone typically should). I originally had no idea what was causing the crashes and began to realize it was due to the new firmware.

I have not been able to downgrade the FW and there are no official instructions on how to do so. I find it inexcusable that these firmware releases have not been properly tested beforehand, and that I shelled out the cash to become a Beta tester. I did search the Garmin site for explanation, but none was found as of yesterday, so the units went back. I don't have the patience to be in limbo over such issues with a brand new $500 unit plus the cost of additional accessories to make it completely useful to me outdoors.

    I Agree with you Vincepsp

I agree with Vince. I find it unbelievable that these units are so riddled with problems and that the fixes only create more problems.

If I were a pilot...or if you are flying in a plane with a pilot using a garmin. This would be the last company I would want to trust my life to!

On second thought...aren't we trusting these devices to help up us when we are out in the middle of nowhere?

    Unbelievable!!!

    How To Downgrade To v2.70

    1. Go here and download 'Dakota_WebUpdater_270.gcd'.

    2. Rename this file to 'gupdater.gcd'.

    3. Connect your Dakota and open it as a drive in My Computer, then copy the file into the Garmin folder.

    4. Safely remove the device from your PC and reboot the Dekota.

My comment above was regarding update v3.30. I no longer have the Oregon because of the firware issues, so I can't comment on further fw updates. Good luck to current owners.
