Google Earth path export to GC

How can I easily export a path (course) created in Google Earth into Garmin Connect.

I've tried to save it as KML and using gpsbabel to convert into GPX but GC won't accept it, and gives "Some activities could not be created."

E.g.
gpsbabel -i kml -o gpx,gpxver=1.1 HOTCUP1.kml HOTCUP1.gpx

I've tried to use another tool for the conversion http://www.gpsies.com/convert.do - and opposed to gpsbabel it works perfect. But the BIG drawback is, that it is webbased - I don't like that. Also it seems, that other people talk well about gpsbabel, so I guess it should be possible.

While comparing the output GPX files (the working and non-working, respectively), I notice, that in the working edition (from gpsies) timestamps are inserted for each trackpoint. When removing these timestamp, I get the same error as with the GPX file obtained by gpsbabel.

Well, I could sum up with these questions:

1) How can I easily export Google Earth paths into GC - easily means NOT with a web-based converter-tool?

2) If I want to use gpsbabel, is it possible to make it insert timestamps? (I know they will be more or less random, but as long as it works...)
