More option for powering GPS / Mini-usb isn't the only solution

Hi, recently, my Colorado 300 mini-usb breaks up in a trip far from home. I've use the car charger for powering the unit as I had many hours of drive to do. As from what I've read, I'm not the only one that the mini-usb port breaks/come loose while powering the unit. That type of port wasn't design to suffer from the frequent plug/unplug require from an electronic device. So why not just put an widely available DC Cylindrical types socket found in almost every electronic device for power? Of course the mini-usb is still necessary for communicating with the gps, but this socket will increase the lifetime of the device when connected in a car. (This is a current use nowadays…)

Thanks!
