Can't Upload: 60csx to GC

Hi. Can't seem to upload anything to GC. It finds the device, then says "No new activities to upload." It also won't take my .gpx files. I have the latest 60csx firmware, mac os 10.5.8, firefox 3.6.3. I've been searching through the forums, haven't found anything that helps. Thanks, Adam

I have the same issue. When I create a gpx file from a track, GC tells me there is an error. I tried it with Basecamp and Mapsource.

I think you have to unload your 60 to MapSource (or somewhere) and then do a manual upload to GC.

Thanks for that. I did try that also, but GPX from basecamp or mapsource are not accepted in GC.

Something is not right. I just opened GC and clicked "Upload" and then "Manual Upload" (bottom link) and browsed for a gpx file from my old GPSMAP76S in MapSource and it loaded right into GC.

You cannot load directly from the 60 into GC.

    A GPX Warning

Do not save your tracks in your GPSMAP devise or any other older type GPS. You must upload the activelog directly from the devise to MapSource (or whatever). If you save the track in the devise it removes the timestamp and all the speed data and then it will not load into GC.

I can confirm the reply DATEZZ gave.
I use a GPSMAP 60c and only the active log can be uploaded into GC. Also with the gpx file you gave, if you view it in a text editor, although there is elevation data for each track point there is no time stamp. You could add some dummy time data for each track point such as adding the line:
    2010-05-21T00:00:00.000Z

There's a much much easier way to do this without editing any files and without having to use MapSource or Basecamp. I was having the same issues and tested this several times and it has worked for me.

To do this be sure you have a media card inserted into your 60CSx. Go into TRACK and setup the tracklogs to save to the media card. Automatically your tracks will be saved to GPX files on the unit itself without having to use the SAVE option. Even if you do SAVE from the unit and change the name the origional GPX file is still on the device. Tracks are saved by date in the GPX files and one date.gpx can contain multiple tracks for that day.

After doing several "activities" or tracks in say a long hiking trip you can plug your unit into the computer and set the USB Mass Storage mode on so that the memory card appears as a drive letter. (Tested only on a Windows machine). From there you can either copy the GPX files to a folder on your computer (Recomended) or leave them on the card.

Logon to Garmin Connect and select the MANUAL upload process. You can then select the GPX file for the date and upload it. If the date contains multiple tracks they will come in as "untitled" for each track but will have the date and time stamp so you can tell them apart.

So far this has worked very well for me with no issues. I'm hoping though that the new 62 series allows downloading of all saved tracks without having to jump through hoops like this.

Using the above steps allows you to record multiple "activities" on the unit without having to upload only the active track each time before you start the next "activity".
