GeoCache Forums?

Seems like Garmin is pushing geo-caching, and there's a subscription option for it, $30 / year. A nominal fee, but what about some discussion on the topic?

I have a vague idea what geo-caching is, but I'd be curious to discuss it online with others. My inclination in stashes (caches) would be way, way out in the boonies in some remote and hard to access areas: Wilderness areas, summits, rock climbs, islands in water features (lakes/rivers/bays) . . .

I bought the Oregon 450 for 4WD accessing fly-fishing sites on Central Oregon rivers (Deschutes / Metolius). And an adjunct to these sorties would seem to be "caching" stuff along the routes.

And so . . . discuss . . . ??? I need more information.

You do not need to pay the $30 to join the geocaching game. That is the price of a "premium membership" at the geocaching.com web site. There are some handy "perks" that come with that membership, but for the casual player it is not a must have item to play the game. Geocaching is a pastime that appeals to many styles of outdoor activities. I incorporate it into bicycling (on and off road), motorcycling (both on and off road), hiking, traveling (business and pleasure), and just as an excuse to get off the couch and do something! You are right, caches are everywhere! I'll bet there are 10 caches within 1/2 mile of where you are right now (unless you live way out in the boonies). Lots of different personalities and interesting topics to discuss for the forum minded person. You already have the gear, so visit the geocaching web site and give it a try.
    Have fun!
