Connect not showing HR data on graph or sleep data

I have a Garmin Forerunner 245, all the functions work fine, it shows my HR and plots the HR data in the graph on the watch itself.

Garmin connect shows my HR live in the widget on the home screen but is not updating the graph or recording sleep data.

I've tried a reset of the watch and I've removed it from the app and added it back but the HR graph and sleep data is still blank.

Connect app says version 5.21

  • The removing / adding often helps with this type of problems, but if it did not, try the more thoughtful procedure described in the Troubleshooting guide for (some) data missing after syncing, namely the hint #4. It won't help with the past data though, anyway too. It only avoids that the issue continues.

  • I've followed the guide.

    1. Soft reset made no difference.

    2. The device is set to prefered activity tracker, storage and processing is set to agree.

    3. Synchronisation is working, the white circle completes and stops.

    4. The watch was removed from the app, the watch was removed from paired devices on my phone, I logged out of the app, I forced the app to shutdown, I cleared data and cache. The watch was already removed from Garmin connect web and I logged out.

I opened the app and went through the initial setup and login steps, I added the watch.

Looking at Garmin Connect web, I can see the data was working fine until the 22nd of January where it stopped, it briefly started again on the 2nd and 3rd of February and then stopped again.

My heart rate data is working on the watcg and the live data is showing in the app but the graphs don't work. Given the steps above, it would appear the problem is with the app itself.

  • I have now removed the watch and all devices (cycle computer) from the app, logged out, forced a stop appplication, cleared all the data, uninstalled the app, unpaired my watch from my phone.

Then rebooted the phone, instaled the app and went through the setup process, live heart rate data is showing in the app but nothing on the graph and no sleep data.

  • A number of days ago, I too, have found the browser-based Connect not showing details of the brpm (when one moves the mouse across the graph), on the Health Stats, Sleep graph, with Respiration selected. All the other selections, Movement, Resting Heart Rate, Body Battery, Pulse Ox continue to work, as expected.

This is NOT an upload issue, as selecting Respiration, under Health Stats and moving the mouse across the graph, does provide the 2 minute, by 2 minute brpm detail, even for the middle of the night.

So Garmin, what was changed and please fix it. Thanks.

  • In case anyone else stumbles upon this problem, it is now fixed and this is the procedure I followed.
    1. Disconnect/unpair all devices in the app.
    2. Unpair all devices in the phone's bluetooth settings.
    3. Log out of the application.
    4. Force a stop from the phones apps menu.
    5. Clear all caches and data via the phones apps menu.
    6. Uninstall the App.
    7. Reboot the phone.
    8. From the Playstore, reinstall the app.
    9. Go through the normal setup procedure.
  • *191372, this does not make sense. What I am (not) seeing, is under the Garmin Connect WEB, the Browser based version, that (remotely) runs Garmins software, on Servers that Garmin pays to maintain. A phone, app is not involved in the display and the data is ALL in Garmins realm. Also, as I stated, I CAN see the respiration data, on a graph, under Health Stats, also shown on a Browser, so it IS being uploaded to Garmins servers.

And per my last line, Garmin, do you peruse these Boards, to maintain connections with your Audience?

    Thanks.

  • In my case, my phone app connects to my watch via bluetooth, it downloads the data and sends the data on to the Garmin Connect WEB.

Without the phone app I don't know how it would send the data to Garmin Connect WEB.

I do not know if the data is downloaded from the watch to the phone, processed into graphs and then sent to Garmin Connect WEB.

    Or

If the data is downloaded from the watch, sent to the Garmin Connect WEB which processes the data and sends the graph data back to the app on my phone.

And no, Garmin rarely monitor these forums, I'm presuming   is some sort of primitive AI support bot.
