Show in Metric if metric is set by uploader

When I'm "sharing" my activity with others they're all complaining that the measures for distance and speed are in "Statute". I think the default behavior should be to show the activity in the measurement scale set by the uploader (me, in this case).

Statute measurements do NOT make sense for people in central Europe. Neither do Metrics for people in the UK or the USA.

Please take care of that!

Same! Very frustrating for friends when trying to share. I have set "Metric" as my default setting, but goes to "Statute" every time!!
There doesn't seem to be a way to change this!
    Is there???
  • Same for people in Latin america, we are used to Metric and it makes more sense to us to share in metric units.

So my guess is that the unit shown to someone shouldn't be the unit *I* choose in my profile, nor the selected unit from the device I'm using.

I'm a European, and when I share activities on Facebook, I get comments from a number of friends, also European. Most of the time, they surf from computers within Europe, so I think the buest guess for the unit system to use is to base it on the geolocation of the person surfing Garmin Connect.

US friends will see Statute, while my European friends will have metric.

  • I agree, there should be some way to specify that you want your activities to be shown in metric even when sharing the activity somewhere else. Why not just add an option to the sharing dialogue to let you choose metric or statute. There are many ways to fix this (i.e. based on geographic location, browser settings, user settings or an extra option to the share dialogue), just get it done!

I'm new to this Forum and this "Always share Activities in Statute" issue is one of the first and most obvious frustrations. It would also be the easiest to fix.

At the very least 'Sharing' an activity should be sent as a link in the units selected by the user instead of defaulting to Statute all the time. Ideally you'd then have the option to select and/or change this each time you share an activity.

It's strange that Garmin haven't done anything about this yet. I've asked for it several times, and so has many other people. I've stopped sharing activities because of this, and has partially migrated to Endomondo instead. The social part of Endomondo is awesome, and something I also really miss with Connect.

I'll add my voice to the call.

I share rides and trails on our mtb club website and I'm sick of having to explain to people who are not familiar with garmin connect that to view in metric they need to click the "view details." open the link in garmin connect and then look for the "view in metric"button....

I doubt this issue would have taken so long to fix if the default was metric and our friends in the USA were the ones left confused by the setting.

How hard would it be to either have this set by region or at least have the option to "always share in metric"
