Search function does not work..

I'm sure this has been covered before but I'm too frustrated to even look.
The Explore / Activities function is complete useless. If I know someones user name and just type it in, it should just show it. Every name I type it comes back "Sorry. We did not find any results from your search. Try again."

Will this be fixed anytime soon?
  • There is an announcement on the forum regarding known issues for Explore (since today's upgrade), but I too am continually frustrated by the limitations of the Explore page. I mean, why should I ever have to see the message, "Sorry, search area is too broad. Please zoom in the map and try again."?

Searching an area a few km square is almost unusable. Especially when it only searches on start position.

Why the search just doesn't just return the first 10 results sorted chronologically for any area is beyond me. No indexing on datetime?

    Aaaaaaaaaaargh!
  • The default search area in 'Explore' (for me) is a ~1km square somewhere in Minneapolis. Is that standard for everyone? I am nowhere near Minneapolis or have ever been there.

That's the amazingly smart feature that the Garmin Connect people have come up with: it shows the location with the most added activities of last week.

Extremely stupid if you're not anywhere near that place. It's not possible to change it either.

I know.. Search function for activities is pretty bad in general, as you indicate in your first three posts in this topic.
  • :) I just don't see why it is so difficult. It is soooo frustrating. Surely, this is not difficult to fix. I want a job at Garmin.
  • It's unbelievable... I get Minneapolis also, and if I try anywhere near my area it gives me the same "Sorry. We did not find any results from your search. Try again." even when I know there are activities in there because they are mine or friends'. This is a totally useless feature if they don't fix it. The funny thing is, once in a while it works, but I haven't done anything different.

Garmin Connect is becoming more and more of a joke. Trying to search for any activity keeps bringing up no results found. I went back to Motion Based and found the activities I was looking for in less than 10 seconds. I cannot comprehend how they can have Motion Base as an existing platform and then release such a nonfunctional site! I've held out thinking they would get it together, but progress seems nonexistent. I wish there was another web based alternative.
