Unable to share activity with connection

Hi there,

I'm trying to share an activity with my buddy, and I'm failing.

what we did:

- he added me in Connections, I've accepted it, and I have him on the list - and it shows him as Connected, and when he shared a Challenge I can accept it

- for specific activity, he has changed privacy setting (by clicking padlock) to Who can view -> My Connections

- I did the same - set specific activity to Who can view -> My Connections

- but when I go to Connections and click him, in Activity tab it only says "... only shares some information publicly"

Is there anything we missed in the process? Or way around it?

thanks!

  • - but when I go to Connections and click him, in Activity tab it only says "... only shares some information publicly"

That's the activity feed on his profile. His profile has separate privacy settings from the individual activities themselves.

In order for his connections to see recent activities on his profile, he has to change his profile privacy so that at least connections can view it.

    In the Garmin Connect app:

    - Tap profile pic (upper-left)

    - Tap Settings > Profile & Privacy > Profile

    - Tap My Connections (or My Connections & Groups, or Everyone)

    In the Garmin Connect website:

    - Click on profile pic (upper-right)

    - Click Public Profile > Can be seen by: Only Me > Profile and change the setting to My Connections (or My Connections & Groups, or Everyone)

If he wants to share a single activity without making his profile visible:

    In the Connect website:

    - Open the activity

    - Copy the URL from the browser address bar

    - Send the URL to the person who wants to see the activity

    In the Connect app:

    - Open the activity

    - Press the share button

    - Select Web Link

    - Select an app for sharing the link, or select Copy to copy the link to the clipboard

  • Rather than checking each other's profile, have a look at your News Feed. You'll see there all activities of your Connections that are not private-only. Make sure you did not set the filter to see your own activities only, on the news feed page, though.
