Dakota 20 won't power up

same problem

after updating to vers 3.8 and transferring a map to a friends dakota 20 (off warranty) transfer went fine but when i powered off, it died never came back on.

it will help you. I have downgrade to 3.70 and now it is OK. Also you can upgrade to 3.82 (beta)

i've seen a couple other threads with the same issue but haven't seen any resolutions indicated any help would be appreciated.

i have a dakota 20 and used it for about a month, went to change the batteries and the unit never powered back up. still doesn't power up so i can't try any of the other solutions. i'm in cambodia now...hopefully i don't have an expensive paper weight sitting around for the next 2 years :(

What firmware version do you have on a GPS?

had 3.7 before installing 3.8

Tried forced usb mode even for over an hour with a plastic wood clamp to keep the power on.Doesn't respond at all. If you have any other things I can try I am ready and willing. I am not sure if I did the forced usb procedure the right way:confused:.I powered on waited ten seconds connected to computer and find device always stayed greyed out and no response from computer or dakota.Thanks for responding .

dakota reset

too bad the dakota 20 doesn't have a reset pinhole we could try.
