Nuvi 500 Problem - Won't import routes

I'm having trouble loading/importing routes as well, though it's a bit different from your problem. (I have the Import option, but every route I send over from Basecamp crashes the Nuvi upon import attempt.)

What software are you using to send routes to your Nuvi?

I have also experienced problems when trying to import routes/POI. I have a web site where we have implemented the Communicator plugin, and it makes me frustrated. See my queston:

I clear all content on the device, both via the device itself and also via the computer, where I delete all files except the current.gpx. This my Zumo 550 is reset, and I can download again until next crash.

Yes - interesting to know what software you are using, and what the conditions for the crash are.

Therein lies the problem....I don't have an "import" option under My Data. I have the current software for the device (just updated again from Garmin to be sure), but that option isn't in my menu.

Anyone else experience this or have any suggestions?

I have the same problem with my Nuvi 550.

Anyone have a solution for this? Does Garmin not realize they have a bug in their product(s)???

EDIT: I found a way to get the 'Import' option back under MyData. I am not going to post it here as it involves hacking some software - send me a PM if you want the solution.

I am having a similar problem. I created 2 routes in BaseCamp (for the mac), which was a painful process in unto itself. I transferred both to the nüvi 550. The first one actually was loaded twice (why can't it overwrite when the route name matches?) The second one consistently crashes the nüvi almost immediately. This is extremely frustrating. I have just loaded the latest CityNavigator North America NT maps (2011.20). I also have the latest 550 firmware (3.90).

How can I delete a "file" (as in "Import Route From File"). I have "Route ABC" and "Route ABC 1". I don't need it on here twice. I would expect the "My Data" feature to allow me to manage my data.

Basecamp can't route load auto routed roads. It was noce of Garmin to program it so that it says it was successful, but after 2 hours on hold I had a snarky rep tell me "it's not supported"

You have to nuke the current.gpx file on the garmin to get rid of the route's you've sent over.:confused: Makes no sense whatsoever.
