Garmin Connect (Web) does not show detailed data for each lap in "Laps" tab.

Hi Team,

I cannot see detailed data for each lap on Garmin Connect Web. It has shown before, but cannot see now.
I can see most of data from Gamin Connect App (iOS), but App does not show all data I could see on Garmin Connect Web,
for example, Standing Time / Standing Power etc...
Does anyone know how I can see those data ?

  • It is not clear from your post whether you mean:

    1) you see all the lap data in the Connect app, but only some lap data in the Connect website

    2) you see all the lap data in the Connect website, but only some lap data in the Connect app

If you mean 2), you need to rotate your phone to landscape in order to see all columns, if you haven't done so.

Otherwise, I'm not sure what the problem is.

  • Thanks for your comment.

    1) Garmin Connect Web does not show detailed for lap at all now (It used to show all the data, but now not at all).
    2) Garmin Connect iOS shows some of datas for lap, but does not show Standing Time, Standing Power and so on. Of course, I have tried to rotate my phone to landscape, but it did not help.

  • Of course, I have tried to rotate my phone to landscape, but it did not help.

Yeah, I figured :/. Sorry, just had to double-check. The UX for the lap table in the Connect app is bad enough that some users don't know they have to rotate their phone to landscape to see all the columns. For example, the "rotate your phone" icon is at the *bottom* of the lap list (after the final lap), so if you have lots of laps, it's possible that the icon won't be visible unless you scroll to the bottom of the list.

I like the way Stryd handles this better: you explicitly tap a button to "zoom" a given table so it appears in full-screen and landscape. Then it's obvious that you have to rotate your phone, and either way, you're already in the "zoom" mode. I think this is much more discoverable and robust. (This won't come as a shock, but if you successfully rotate to zoom the lap table in the Connect app, then you switch to another app and switch back, it's possible Connect will now be in a broken state where it's very hard or impossible to exit the lap table at all - now the user probably has to close and reopen Connect to recover.)

This is also pretty much how every video app works, when a full-screen landscape video is available: when you make a video go to full-screen, it's automatically displayed in landscape. This is literally the opposite of how Garmin Connect lap table works: when you rotate your phone to landscape, the lap table is automatically displayed in full-screen.

Garmin Connect iOS shows some of datas for lap, but does not show Standing Time, Standing Power and so on.

I don't have this problem, but I don't have a new watch that supports the new standing metrics. (I wasn't even aware that these existed until you mentioned them. I understand Standing Time, but what's the point of Standing Power? Wouldn't standing power always be 0 or "not applicable"? Are there also corresponding lap metrics for Run and Walk periods? e.g. Walking Time, Walking Power, Running Time, Running Power, etc?)

Interestingly, my watch doesn't support step speed loss either, but I get empty lap columns in the Connect website (not the app) for step speed loss and step speed loss % (but not any of the standing metrics).

EDIT: now I see that you're referring to Standing/Sitting metrics for cycling, not some sort of new (nonexistent) Standing/Walking/Running metrics for running.

Garmin Connect Web does not show detailed for lap at all now (It used to show all the data, but now not at all).

I don't have this problem either.

My best guess is that the problem in both cases could be related to the new standing metrics. There could be some bug in both versions of Connect (app and website) where displaying laps fails in different ways when these metrics are available.

This isn't so crazy, as there's currently a bug in the Connect website where you can't persistently reorder charts if your watch *doesn't* support certain new metrics like step speed loss.

It's like they forget to test this stuff either with new features present or absent.
