Estimated time of a Workout

Hi,

I have a forerunner 745 and I follow a workoutplan (Garmin Coach).

Everytime I do a workout, I leave without phone, just my watch, and I communicate to my surroundings where I'm going to run and for how long. But the latter question is more and more difficult as my workouts become more and more complex (run, walk, sprint,... instructions in time and distance).

Is there a way to estimate the time of a workout given a certain profile. This would make planning a workout in a busy agenda, and communicating on it, a lot easier.

Kind regards,

Ward

  • As long as all the steps of the workout use time or distance in the Duration type field, the estimated duration is shown (see the first workout on the screenshot below), but if some of the steps use just the "Lap Button Press" option, then the duration is undefined and hence not shown (the remaining workouts on the screenshot):

  • Hi,

Thanks for taking time to answer this question.

I have 2 considerations when reading your answer:

    1. The workouts in my plan don't appear in the 'My Workouts' (your screenshot). Is it possible to copy them from the plan to this location?

    2. I understand that the variable of "Lap Button Press" makes it impossible to predict the exact time. But I think it should be possible to calculate a 'minimum exercise time' based on condition and supposing that steps will be started manually and directly after each step.

    Kind regards,

    Ward

  • 1. You can edit individual workouts only at self-managed Training Plans

    2. Consider suggesting it to Garmin at Share Ideas | Garmin

  • It is very interesting.
I don't use Forerunner, I have Descent and I has had Fenix 7 before but for Garmin coach training plans I always have information how long (in the sense of time) this workout will take.
I use adaptive Garmin coach plan and doesn't matter in the GC on my phone or on the watch in Garmin coach widget I have that information.

  • Thanks, I posted the idea on their platform. We'll see what happens... :-)
