Aera 500 Waypoints

Just bought an aera 500. Have set user waypoints but they don't appear as a selectable option when creating a flightplan. This means you can only set a heading from, say, one airport or town to the other (whatever is in the database) and not points that you choose (as you would when using a chart). So if I want to join Wellesbourne (UK) from Gaydon (a nearby landmark) I can't. Yet this is common practice at the airfield. Very limiting and disappointing.

The manual for the product is useless by the way. Tells me if I touch a data field I can change the data in the field (duh) but not how to use the device to navigate an aircraft. Certainly doesn't say what user waypoints are for. If you can't set a heading to them, what purpose do they serve?

Anyone?
