Connect does not import .fit files anymore, why ?

hope this query reaches some expert able to help me.

Let me explain what's going on.

I have been using Garmin SWIM for many years to track my activities in the pool and, as you may know, the SWIM has difficulties in recognizing the batterfly as a style and sometime it is confused with other styles forcing me to correct it via SW. The procedure I have been adopting to modify it (since many years) is always the same:

1. download the .zip from Garmin-Connect website

2. upload and edit it through Swimming Watch or Data Analyzer (both work in the same way)

3. download the .fit modified

4. upload the modified .fit in the Garmin-Connect website

It is exactly this last step that does not work anymore. When I try to upload the file, there is no answer, no message, nothing, the file is not uploaded, period. 

I am sure the file is not corrupted as, even if I do trial and simply do steps 1 and 4 above without doing any modifiaction the result is the same.

This is the first time I face this kind of problem.

  • Alberto, thanks for the post and providing the steps taken thus far. I recommend trying a different web browser to upload your modified .FIT file to Garmin Connect. That will help narrow down if the browser is the culprit. Another step to try would be manually uploading an unmodified .FIT to Garmin Connect. That will further narrow down if it is the browser or file.

    I already run some trials to exclude the major potential problems and also reported my findings to Garmin product-support through a dedicated query.

    Anyhow:

    1. changing browser does not help. Both Google-Chrome and MS-Edge behave the same way. Cleaning cookies and all the rest does not improve at all, the problem remains the same
    2. the issue is present even if I download an activity and re-upload the same file without touching it. So it is not matter of a third-party SW corrupting it

    I also suggest other users to do a simple trial as per point 2 and confirm (or not).
