I was greatly disappointed today to find out that the Nuvi 1692 will not do area avoidances, a feature on the Quest that I used to bypass metropolitan areas, and other areas with heavy traffic. According to the customer service individual to whom I spoke, only the 800 series and 5000 series units have this feature. However, I checked the specs for those two series and see no indication of area avoidances, just highway avoidances. So, before I make another mistake of purchasing a Garmin product with features I assumed were present, but which really aren't there, I wonder if someone can confirm that the customer service person to whom I spoke is correct about area avoidances.
