Garmin Connect Strength Workout Bug

Hello!

I believe I have found a Strength Workout Bug regarding the name of the workout itself. I created two workouts in Garmin Connect Web. One called 'Basketball Strength: Whole Body 1' and another called 'Basketball Strength: Whole Body 2'.

Once created, I sent the workouts to my device. However, I noticed I only had one new workout on my watch (Forerunner 945 LTE), which was called 'Basketball Strength: Whole Body'. It seems that my workout name was truncated by the watch. So even though I had two unique workouts, it treated them as the same workout name, and merged them into one. So which ever workout (1 or 2) I would send to the device last, would be the one that would update on the watch. I would guess it's being truncated at 30 characters.

I think it's as simple as allowing longer names of workouts on the watch itself.

I was able to get around the issue by naming the workouts shorter, so they each had unique names within the character constraints of the watch, and now I have two workouts on my watch.

Yeah I think it's one of those archaic limits that's probably carried over from super old Garmin devices from 10-20 years ago, when they *may* have made sense.

Even the names of Garmin Coach workouts (which are generated/determined by Garmin itself) are truncated on the watch (which means they're also truncated in the Connect activity name, if the activity name is configured to incorporate the workout name).

If Garmin can't even be bothered to avoid truncating their *own* workout names, good luck getting them to care about user-created workout names.

I just don't think Garmin pays any attention to detail.
