Road Cycling: What Screen do you use when Navigating?

For any navigating roadie cyclists out there.

Just curious. What unit and screen do you use when navigating? Me, I use a Legend HCx and the map screen:

  • Use Routes, not Tracks
  • Scale to 120m
  • Follow Road on
  • Street names, POIs and waypoints undisplayed for clarity
  • Next Turn Pop Ups off
  • Guidance Text always off
  • One data field displayed, set to Waypoint at Next

Which screens do you use? Map, Active Route, Compass?

Are any of these screens particularly resource-heavy/light, with implications for battery life?

I love this thing. It's changed my cycling life as I have no geographical awareness at all.

Cheers!
