Coach Amy 10 km

Hello,

I am in week 10 of 15 of training with Amy for a 10 km run.

1. On Sunday, I am running a 5 km race and at that time I have a 4.8 km training session scheduled. Unfortunately, my watch goes into recording mode after I finish running. Of course, I can change this during the run, but I would prefer to focus on running. I was thinking of setting my training to 5 km.

-warm-up- ends when the button is pressed

- 5 km run

- cool down - end after pressing the button

How will this affect my training with Amy, because then I won't be doing the training with Amy, only my own.

2. I'm going for a treatment and I think I'll have to skip 3-4 training sessions. How will this affect my training with Amy?

  • Nice work sticking with your Garmin Coach expert running plan so far! If you choose to run your own custom workout, that activity won't automatically count toward your plan because it's outside of the scheduled training structure. However, missing a single session or two for a race won’t throw off your plan in any major way. You can simply complete your race and then resume your Garmin Coach workouts as usual. Amy will adjust upcoming workouts based on your recent performance data.

If you’d prefer your race to appear in place of the day’s session, another option could be to start the scheduled Garmin Coach workout, complete your warm-up, and then continue running your race. That way, the workout completion still registers within the plan.

With regard to going to treatment, it's perfectly fine if you need to skip a few training sessions! Garmin Coach is designed to adapt as you go, so once you’re able to resume training, the plan will automatically readjust based on your current fitness and completed activities. Just make sure to sync your watch with Garmin Connect so those updates take effect.
