Please Enable Chrome Support

The Communicator Plugin works fine with Chrome. I use it all the time with other web sites (e.g. RunningAhead). Unfortunately, Garmin Connect doesn't realize this, and it explicitly disallows the plugin when it detects Chrome as the browser.

This is a simple fix. Can the GC gurus manage to find time to do it?

    quick fix

I suffered the same problem but couldn't stand firing up safari each time I needed to transfer runs. Instead i found an extension for chrome called "User-Agent Switcher" which alters the information of web browser (user-agent) that is reported to various sites.

Now each time I need to transfer files, i use a very simple interface to make my chrome browser identify as "Safari 4". Works like a charm.

extension can be found at link below:

  • Tremendous! Thanks for that.

    Chrome and Garmin

I was just told that Garmin doesn't support Chrome at all...but worse that I had to make Mozilla my default browser or I can't upload my workout data. The (extremely abrasive) customer support guy was lecturing me on Chrome's issues...I don't know - #3 browser been around and stable for years. But my bigger issue is that this is terrible software architecture to require global setting changes to do very simple functions.
  • I'm guessing you mean in terms of Garmin Communicator not working. Install the Use-Agent Switcher extension for Chrome and you'll be set.

To use it, click on the icon on the page you want to 'imitate' and choose the appropriate browser. I use Chrome on my Macs and choose Safari 4 as the browser. In some cases you cannot lock the switch, but choosing the browser, then refreshing the page sorts that out.

This also works with the software updates. All other Garmin sites work.

Maybe Garmin will do something...maybe they won't

    IETab.net

I had some trouble using the extension above, but I've had success using this Chrome extension: http://www.ietab.net/ It mimics IE within the Chrome browser. I'm a Dailymile user and this extension allows me to sync my Garmin data on that site...finally!!! I've been messing with this all day!

Just plugged in my 305 that I got for xmas and was sad to learn that Chrome just isn't supported.

First I tried the ieTab extension, but that one has some rather extensive access rights to stuff on my computer. Using the UA switcher does the job nicely.

I added garmin.com to the options page of the UA switcher and now it automatically switches to FF 3.5 whenever I visit amy garmin page.
  • Chrome mostly works - just formatting issues.

I would also like Chrome Mac support!

Please make it work! I currently need to start up Safari to upload data to Garmin Connect.
