Issues with exporting, combining and importing/uploading activities on Garmin Connect

I'm trying to combine two activities I recorded on my Vivoactive 4 then upload them to Connect. I have tried the following on the Connect web (using Microsoft Edge):

- Exporting both activities as .fit files, combining using Gotoes.org (both as .gpx & .fit) and importing as an activity - outcome: loading bar loads fully but remains grey then nothing happens

- Exporting both activities as .fit files, combining using Gotoes.org (both as .gpx & .fit) and importing as a course - outcome: loading bar loads fully (blue) but then says 'Your course cannot be imported. Something is wrong with this file'

- Exporting both activities as .gpx files, combining using Gotoes.org (both as .gpx & .fit) and importing as an activity - outcome: loading bar loads fully but remains grey then nothing happens

- Exporting both activities as .gpx files, combining using Gotoes.org (both as .gpx & .fit) and importing as a course - outcome: loading bar loads fully (blue) but then says 'Your course cannot be imported. Something is wrong with this file'

- Tried to convert one activity as both .fit and .gpx to GPX Track and Route using the All Trails converter - outcome: error message returned reads 'The file is either empty or it contains no valid data', despite showing the file size (e.g. File size: 1084.5 kb).

- Tried to convert the combined activity as both .fit and .gpx to GPX Track and Route using the All Trails converter - outcome: error message returned reads 'The file is either empty or it contains no valid data', despite showing the file size.

I've also tried exporting a single activity as both .gpx and .fit and then reuploading it to Connect and I'm met with the same errors i.e. 'Your course cannot be imported. Something is wrong with this file' in the Course section or the grey loading bar in the Activity section.

Please help. THanks.

  • Have you tried FIT File Tools "File Combiner."

Note that Garmin Connect might reject it giving you the message "This file has already been uploaded." This is because the new activity has a start time that is identical to the activity that was already imported. You'll need to delete that one then upload the new activity again.

FIT File Tools doesn't always work, in which case attach the zipped files to this thread. We can take a look to see if the files can be merged.

    • Zip the file, then in a reply post Insert >> Image/video/file >> click Upload >> browse for file >> OK.
    • Or upload the fit file to a file sharing service, such as OneDriveGoogle DriveDropbox, make the file public, then paste a link to the file in your post.
