Comments not possible

Since a few weeks, Garmin Connect is systematically asking me to accept/reject cookies each time I am logging in or loeading a new page, like entering into my last activity.

And, more seriously, I can only add Notes and can't add comments anymore in my activties, with a error message "Demand cannot be treated. Try again later". Knowing that the size of the note is limited to 2000 characters, I used to use the notes to complete my activities' summary.

Do you know if Garmin has removed this option in their last update?

  • Well, my account was created in 2021...

  • In the app, there is only one field dedicated to notes (2000 characters) but there is no field for comments.

In the app, comments can only be posted from the News Feed, not from the activity details page itself.

Once at least 1 comment has been left on an activity, a little link appears in the activity details page like "1 comment", which takes you to the comment in the news feed.

Ofc the downside here is that it's not easy to add a comment to an older activity, due to the way infinite scroll works in the news feed. The scrollbar doesn't cover all your activities, only the small amount of activities that are currently loaded, so you have to scroll for a long time to see older activities, and there's no other way to navigate the news feed other than scrolling.

I've mentioned this elsewhere, but apps like Strava and Spotify have infinite scrolling for long lists like Strava's activity log and Spotify's My Library, but they also give you a way to *quickly* jump to any point in these lists - either through a regular scrollbar or custom scrubber which covers the *entire* list, so it's easy and quick to jump to any point in the list. They also give you a way to identify the point in the list you'll be jumping to, like Strava with its calendar navbar of years/months and races, and Spotify with the scrubber that tells you the month and year of your current position in My Library.

(I do realize that lack of easy navigation can be seen as a feature, not a bug, for social media-style news feeds, since it discourages the casual user from "creeping" your history by preventing them from easily jumping to any given point. However, there is no good reason to prevent the owner of the feed from jumping to any point in the feed.)
