Can't upload FIT files to Garmin Connect Web

I can't upload a FIT file to Garmin Connect Web. This is something I've done hundreds of times before without issue, and now it doesn't work. When I go swimming, sometimes the watch gets lengths wrong. I output the FIT file from Garmin Connect Weba and use a website to fix that, then upload the updated FIT file, having deleted the old version. It has always worked in the past, for years. Now it won't upload the new file. Even more concerning, it won't upload the old file either. Something has gone wrong. I have loads of old FIT files that uploaded fine in the past and now they won't go up.

Same issue here on uploading FIT files, despite it having worked well in the past, also tried re-uploaded the original file without success.

Yep. It’s broken for me too as of about 12 hours ago.
the file uploads to Strava just fine so it’s not a problem with the fit file. It’s a problem with Garmin.

there is a pinned thread about this that I didn’t see at first. There is. Problem right now with uploading on garmin connect we via Firefox and Safari. The work around is to use Chrome or Edge.
I just used Chrome and my fit file uploaded.

I tried chrome, DuckDuckGo, and Firefox with no success. Strava on the other hand takes the file no problem so I don’t think it’s the file

If still issues, try running it through FIT File Viewer—it works in the browser and can often fix corrupted files. If even after that you still cannot upload your fit file, then if still issues., you can try to repair the file using 3rd-party tools, such as FIT File Viewer or FIT File Tools. Both of these run in the browser and require no additional software. If you're still unable to import the activity into Garmin Connect, attach the file to this thread. We can take a look to see if it is repairable.

Zip the file, then in a reply post Insert >> Image/video/file >> click Upload >> browse for file >> OK.
Or upload the fit file to a reputable file sharing service, such as OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, make the file public, then paste a link to the file in your post.

Yes, a reasonable conclusion. However, Garmin has different requirements for accepting fit files than Strava does.

If you're still having issues getting your fit file uploaded to Garmin Connect, even in Chrome or Edge, you can try to repair the file using 3rd-party tools, such as FIT File Viewer

If that still doesn't work, attach your file here, we can see what the issue is.

Same here since 2025/09/11. FIT file from old Forerunner 910XT using Firefox. Just tried the Brave browser, which worked.

Yes, basically any browser that uses the Chromium open-source engine (Brave, Edge, Chrome, Opera, etc.) should work fine.
