No training status

I had a Forerunner 25 (? - entry level anyway) and upgraded to 165 a few months ago, since when I have been without training status, though I remember to turn my watch on 3-5 times a week.  Not a massive issue since it at least tracks the data and Strava interprets it properly, but it would be nice.  What should I do to fix it?

  • The Forerunner 165 does not have the training status feature. There are other watches in the Forerunner lineup that do offer it, for example, the Forerunner 570

  • Thank you.  Seems a peculiar UI choice to have half the activity page on the app devoted to this then...

  • You can select which widgets/stats to show in the home page. So, just remove it.

  • Reading between the lines, 9656069 is annoyed that Connect isn't smart enough [*] to automatically hide the training status card if a compatible device isn't registered to your Connect account. To be clear, I think they're implying that they were led to believe that their FR165 supports training status, by the presence of that card. (Yeah, I know that Garmin put "using a compatible Garmin device" at the end of the explanation to preemptively address this kind of concern.)

[*] Or maybe Garmin is smart enough *not* to hide it, so users without Training Status will have uncontrollable FOMO that inevitably compels to them to go out and buy a more expensive Garmin watch.

Either way, I can see how it would be super annoying. It's called "attention to detail", and I could point out endless cases where Garmin falls short. (Yeah I know they don't care, it doesn't affect their bottom line, people still buy $1200 Fenix watches, etc., but it's still annoying.)

  • I interpret the post as that he had Training status before "since when I have been without training status". So, in that case it should show since he have or had a device that supported training status...even though FR25 doesn't.
