Streetpilot map update vs new NUVI

I've got a 5 or 6 year old Streetpilot 2610 with a v8 City Navigator mapset that was issued in 2006. V9 will cost me $75 and I will still have this big, clunky GPS. It just seems silly to me to spend $75 on maps when for (I hope) less than twice that, I can get a new, smaller, lighter unit.

What is the cheapest current unit that will have similar features or functionality? I don't care about real-time traffic updates, playing MP3 files or viewing pictures. Just basic mapping. I do want a wide screen like I currently have.

thinking the same thing, have an old streetpilot myself but looking to upgrade to the nuvi series, found a nuvi 285 on amazon for 129$, sounds like a better deal than paying for overpriced maps and updates

The 2xxx series is much sought after in certain motorcycling circles, and so can be sold at a decent price, allowing you to use those funds to purchase a Nuvi.

www.advrider.com is one place I know of, but just as easily can be sold on ebay.

    New guy from Arizona here.

StreetPilot III, 2XXX series, even a Garmin GPS V are always sought by long distance bikers and off road bikers.

IMHO, the older Garmin units will take water and/or a beating and keep ticking!
