coach prompts during a workout make no sense? (Instinct 2)

I'm doing a 5k plan.  I can already run 5K.  I just want to do it faster. Its a little odd that it wants to turn it into a "couch to 5k plan" , but I having faith for now.  So, for example; it says that the plan is to walk 5 min and run 7 min x 3. After 5 min I get an audio prompt saying "LAP 1" with a pace. The watch displays "5min".  Which is what I just did.  Shouldn't it tell me what I need to do next?  I'm not sure that the next 7minute section lasts 7min.

One of the problems is that during the workout I have to concentrate on the workout rather than explore the menus.  What is *supposed* to happen? Is it possible to dry-run a workout and then abort it without affecting the plan?

  • Those are not coach prompts. There is no such thing on Instinct 2. They are the standard Audio Prompts, telling you real-time values like the pace, heart rate, or power,... (depending on how you configured them). Not what you should do, but what you really did.

For what you should do, you have to watch the screen.

And yes, you can review all the steps of the workout before starting it with the function Do Workout.

  • It should say what you should do next and display that on the watch.

Exactly which plan are you doing?

    Have you started the workout?

If it just says lap 1 and a pace then it sounds like the standard auto lap, but that is by default set to 1 km/mile so it shouldn't be that.
