Few presales questions

I have few questions before i choose what Forerunner i buy. I consider 310Xt (because long battery life and i need to use heavily GPS) or 405 CX (smaller).

If Forerunner model has ANT, then can i use USB-cable to transfer data?

Do i really need to buy ANT or can i use Bluetooth connection in computer?

Are there any settings which limit how often GPS is used so it will save some battery? Like get location only once a minute only.

Which one runs out first, battery or memory? How many hours i can use GPS and HRM before memory runs out?

Does these things use 5V, so i can recharge using USB-batteries?

Thanks

  • No USB transfer option - ANT only

No option for Bluetooth. Devices come with ANT, you cannot choose not to have it.

Devices have 'Smart Recording' so choose collection of data based on a variety of factors - change in direction, heart rate etc.

More likely that battery will run out before memory, unless you do not empty memory of activities regularly. Unlike FR305, FR310XT will not overwrite stored activities. You have to delete. Battery life is approximately 20 hrs onj 310XT although some users reporting lower.

You could probably make a charger unit to separately charge if away from a computer or powerpoint. Otherwise charging is from suitable USB port on a computer or main adaptor.

    Other points to note:

Altimeter is not barometric so elevation and altitude data approximate only.
No GPS or HR in the water - timing only (Unless you put the unit under your swim cap)
