Feedback on Garmin Connect

I tried to send the following as an email to customer support for their use on feedback. The email screen says my browser is unsupported. I'm surprised Safari is unsupported. Here is the email:

I've tried entering my HR on the settings screen. I cannot change the HR Max to a lower value because my HRM is lower than 90% of the default value on the web form.
I was a polar user that changed to a Garmin Edge 305 because I am also a MAC user and Polar does not support MACs. I'm pleased with the 305 unit. That's the good news.
The Garmin Training Center is very deficient for analysis. Garmin Connect is a little better but still way below the stand alone Polar Performance Software I was used to using.
With Polar, I could upload settings from my computer to the polar unit. I cannot with Garmin. With the polar I could analyze segments of a ride but manually setting a lap or zooming onto a mile or two. I could compute the grade of a climb doing this with polar Can't do this with Garmin. Can't even see the grade of a climb with a Garmin. The report is only a summary in Garmin. With Polar I could get trend reports over time. One feature that neither Garmin nor Polar has is the ability to see and download detailed information in a tabular form like a spreadsheet.
I like the 305. The software is very poor.
The Motion Based software looked interesting, but I guess we can't use that. I'm still looking for alternatives.
Now I tried to send an email for feedback and I get a message that my browser is unsupported. What else doesn’t work?

    Hi SCMBR549,

First, I apologize for the poor information you've received. Garmin Connect does in fact support Mac and Safari. From our FAQ page:

What browsers and operating systems does Garmin Connect support?

Garmin Connect is tested on and supports official releases of Internet Explorer 7 and 8, Firefox 3.5, and Safari 4. While the site may work with older versions of these browsers, or beta versions of these (and other) browsers, we do not test for these versions and therefore do not officially support them.

The Garmin Connect website supports Windows 2000/XP/Vista and Mac OS X operating systems (Safari 4 is the supported browser for Mac users at this time).

You should be able to send you HR settings to your device. You can also change your Max HR as long as you update the Zones accordingly. Let me know if you need additional assistance and I'll be happy to help.

We do have more analysis tools coming with future releases. If you're not seeing something chances are it's scheduled for a future release.

    Best,

    kk

I think the OP was referring to the webpage on the Garmin site to contact Garmin support. This is a separate issue that Garmin might want to look into. A runner friend of mine tried to use this page to contact support, and he also got a message that said Safari wasn't supported. I think this message is only supposed to apply to the contact page (which begs the question -- why doesn't the contact page support Safari?), but my friend and the OP took it to mean that Safari isn't supported by Garmin at all. It is causing a bit of confusion.

Looks like the page that is not "supported" on MAC is Search Support. The only thing to indicate this is a small note in the upper right corner that say "You are on an unsupported browser." I was able to perform searches. If any of you are having trouble searching or contacting support, please take a screen shot and post it here. I'll work with the team in Olathe to get any problems resolved.

    Thanks!

Can't "share" details when using IE, only when using Chrome

    Hi RUNKKRUN,

Not sure if my problem is related to this thread but I wanted to report it.

When I'm logged into GarminConnect through Internet Explorer, I can't share or post my activity. If I try to click on the "share" button, nothing happens.

When logged into GarminConnect through Google Chrome, I have no problem with sending the e-mail.

All GarminConnect settings are identical in both browsers.are identical.

    What's going on?

I am moving to mapmyrun, the bing integration vs. google... where I run I simply do not get detailed sat maps from bing while the google ones are great

  • Will the Garmin Connect app be able to draw data from the Apple Health app in the future? Instead of only pushing data to it?
