Garmin connect permanent 2 step verification- still a problem!

Permanent MFA on Garmin connect via browser is still a problem. It is very annoying to have to request an email code, wait several minutes for the email to come, then type that code in. I do not even have ECG set up on my watch, nor do I ever use it. I don't understand why there is no option to manually disable ECG and MFA as well for those like me that never use it. Please make this an option, there are already so many posts complaining about this issue over the past several years!

  • MFA can be disabled if you have no ECG-capable watch (can be verified with a dummy GC account). If you own any device(s) with ECG, you can try temporarily removing it from your Garmin Connect account, then disabling the MFA at https://www.garmin.com/en-US/account/security/mfa/, and then adding the watch back to Garmin Connect.

Not having any device with ECG, I am not sure whether the system can be fooled by removing the watch from GC, but it is worth of testing. If you test it, please report back in any case.

  • Spoke with a representative over the phone and she said since I have the fenix 8, MFA is permanent and cannot be disabled. It is certainly annoying, but I appreciate your input!

  • she said since I have the fenix 8, MFA is permanent

That's exactly why I suggested to remove Fenix 8 from your account, try to disable the MFA, and add the watch back to the account only once the MFGA is disabled.

If the removing does not help for removing the MFA, you can create a new account from the scratch. MFA is mandatory only for the ECG functionality, so if you can live without it, do not enable MFA.
