user defined activity is transferred under wrong name (i.e. under the name of the original activity) to the phone/account. what is the point then to define such an activity, if the name has to be changed anyway?

I create my user-defined activity by copying e.g. "Yoga", renaming it to "myActivity".

I track data under this new activity.

When downloading the data from my venu 3 to garmin connect, the activity is listed as "Yoga", and not as ""myActivity". This is so bad.

Support tells me I have to manually rename it every time, cause the new name isn't transferred. Meaning, creating a new activity is totally useless, I could have just used "Yoga" in the first place, since I'd have to rename it anyway very time.

This is really basic and really poor behaviour, please fix this,

  • Support tells me I have to manually rename it every time, cause the new name isn't transferred.

Luckily that's not true at all.

You can have the activity name in Connect reflect the custom activity profile name for *future* activities, by changing a setting.

    - open connect.garmin.com in a browser and sign in

    - click on profile pic in upper right hand corner

    - select Account Settings > Display Preferences

    - change the Activity Name dropdown to Location & Device Activity Name

  • Thanks man, you are awesome and know more than support. Kudos!

  • Note that it will always be of the type Yoga since your new activity profile is based on the yoga profile. So you have to change the type every time if you want it to be logged as something else than yoga.

I think that creating new profiles are more for having different profiles of the same type so you can have different settings, data screens, alerts etc. depending on what you are training. A short run doesn't need any eat or drink alerts like a long run do. For a hill run you might want to see the ascent and descent and elevation. And so on...
