how to make a repeat plan but for a given amount of time

Hello, I'm new on garmin connect, I'm using a forerunner 165 watch.

I would like to plan a running workout with some repetition but for a given amount of time instead of a number of times.

For example, I would like to add a 10 minutes warming, then 40 minutes of the follow: 1 km at 5:50 minutes/km followed by 1 minute recovery.

Is there a way to make that kind of plan?

Thanks

  • No, but you can make a workout with 6 repeats of 1km @ 5:50/km + 1 min recovery, which is virtually the same thing

  • Yes, in that case 6 repeats will be almost the same, but think about other peace, like 5:45 or I need to manually calculate how many repeats do I need.

Is there a way to config a run/recover and then manually add repeats in the training session? I could look at the time spend on that part of the training and manually add new repeat until I reach the 40 minutes.

  • You can add more repeats than needed, and then skip the rest, that you do not manage to complete.

  • understand.

I'm don't fully understand the buttons (on my foreruner 165) during a workout. What button do I need to press to skip repeats? it's BACK button?

  • I am not familiar with FR165, but to my best knowledge on most (if not on all) Garmin watches with 5 buttons, the Back button is indeed the Lap button, and terminates/skips the current step of a workout.
