Hello - my computer had to be fixed due to viruses. Then I discovered viruses in the Garmin files as well. I'm not sure what I need to do to use garmin connect now. I downloaded gstart, webupdater, and the communication plug in. I'm using a Garmin Edge 705 and a eeepc 901 computer with windows xp.
When I click gstart it doesn't see the unit. When I use the webupdater it says I'm using the latest software but the unit says it is using v. 2.1. on the about Edge page.
My virus protection software removed many infected files I think I might need.
History.exe, Gpx.exe, profile.exe, laps.exe, current.exe, 501.exe, stores.exe, store-v1.exe, garmin.exe, maps.exe.
The unit is working and I can see the maps.
Are these infected files necessary? Do I need to replace them? When I try to upload files garmin connect doesn't see any new activity. Before the computer problems history was saved automatically when I plugged the 705 in. The 705 isn't saving files now but I can see them on the unit. I'm also not seeing a History file in the garmin folder. It's possible I don't have a file available to save the history to?
I know this is a lot but any help you can give me is appreciated.
